Newcomb, Leonard S., 80, longtime resident of Boston, passed away May 14, 2019. Beloved long-time companion of Lynn Newcomb of Worcester, VT. Loving Father of Jesse Conrad Newcomb of San Francisco and Sarah Floyd Newcomb of Quincy. Son of the late Charles and Ruth Newcomb. Brother of Barbara Cahill of Reading, England. Devoted grandfather of Kyra, Adele and Evren Newcomb
Graduating from Amherst College with a B.A. in English Literature, Leonard was sustained throughout his life by his love of literature, art and music. He was a skilled woodworker, draftsman, and artist. He will be missed by many friends, as well as former colleagues and students at the Rhode Island School of Design in Providence, Rhode Island, where he was Professor of Landscape Architecture and Design from 1976-2009, serving also as Chief Critic for the Rhode Island School of Design in Rome from 1998-2000.
