Douglas Hall Obituary

Hall, Douglas A., 75, of Norwell passed away on Nov 12 after a gracious and courageous journey with cancer. After studying architecture at Rhode Island School of Design, Doug enlisted in the United States Air Force from 1964 to 1968, where he traveled widely and learned to speak several languages. Doug was adventurous, loved to travel and explore his many interests and hobbies.  He especially loved trains, boats and whales and worked on a whale watch crew out of Boston Harbor for many years, generously inviting many friends and family to join him on the voyage.

Doug had many artistic talents including photography, painting and music and he played the organ beautifully, especially at family gatherings.  But most of all he was a warm and gentle soul with a clever wit who brought much laughter and love into the world around him. Beloved brother of Donald Hall of Wey., Barbara (Hall) Ormond of Wey. and Virginia (Hall) Poeschl of Norwell. He is also survived by a large extended family, including many nieces and nephews by whom he was affectionately known simply as “UD”.  Doug will be greatly missed by all who were touched by his beautiful life and presence.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the burial Monday November 19th at 11:30 AM in the Mass National Cemetery, Bourne and to gather afterwards to remember Doug and celebrate his life at Mezza Luna Restaurant in Buzzard's Bay. Funeral services under the care of Hamel-Lydon Chapel of Quincy.

In Doug's memory donations may be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children (lovetotherescue.org).

Friends and family have shared their relationship to show their support.
