Of Plymouth passed peacefully on August 6, 2021. Predeceased by loving husband William Walton and leaves sons Ralph Walton (Doreen Marsh); Dale and Atchara Walton, their children, Wahrit Walton (Brian Washburn), Warranyu Walton; and daughter Susan (Sarah) Walton and John Mullen and children Brian and Katherine Mullen. Althea and Bill followed many life adventures during their 55 years together, making homes also in Richmond VA, San Francisco, Needham MA, Kenya, Nigeria, St. Louis, Rochester MN, Wooster OH and Ann Arbor where they were married.
Althea trained at University of IL in their pioneer Occupational Therapy program and although she only practiced a few years, she used her professional skills throughout her life as a mother, faculty spouse, creative partner, volunteer and scout leader. She and Bill were active members in the Society of Friends (Quakers) where she found support and purpose.
Althea wrote poetry, sculpted, carved, wove, drew delightful sketches and caricatures, and was known for her crocheted plastic Recyclabags, and her sense of fashion--Fondly called the Scarf Lady. An avid gardener, she nurtured her wildflowers but could never pass an opportunity to pull a rogue weed.
A Memorial Service will be held at Linden Ponds in Hingham on Saturday October 2nd at 2:00pm followed by light refreshments. Please call Susan - Sara with any questions at (781)291-1278.
