Barbara Jenkins Obituary

Bobbie Jenkins, age 99, died on December 3, 2024, lovingly cared for by her three daughters and granddaughter. She is home with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, in glory.

Bobbie was born in Union City, NJ on November 28, 1925 and grew up in Chappaqua, NY with her parents, William Lowry McLaughlin and Ruth Terwilliger McLaughlin; two sisters, Evelyn and Jean, and twin brothers, Paul and Philip (survives her). She married her loving husband, Howard Hall Jenkins, on September 11, 1948 and they settled in Wayland, Mass for almost 50 years. Howard passed away in 2017. From 2003-2008 they resided in Hyannis, MA and moved to Linden Ponds, Hingham, MA in 2008. She is survived by her daughters Leslie Jenkins Schoenherr, Christine Jenkins, son-in-law David Gauthier, and Jennifer Jenkins. Grandchildren: Daniel Schoenherr and his wife Faye, Rebecca Schoenherr, Wade Critides and his wife Sandy, Byron Critides and his partner Tara Voelkel; and her dear great grandchildren: Everly Schoenherr, Eloise Schoenherr, Cameron Critides and Cove Critides. She prayed for her family members each day.

Bobbie loved the Lord and touched many lives during her 99 years. She was a Sunday School teacher, women’s Bible Study leader for over 4 decades, part of Steven Ministries, supported missionaries and used her gift of hospitality to show love and the light of Jesus to those around her. She was a vibrant and positive presence to those who knew and loved her. She loved to dance and her family can picture her in heaven dancing with Howie. She had an artist’s eye and making a beautiful home was one of her passions along with sharing that home with others. She took up water color painting at Linden Ponds and created many beautiful pictures for her family to treasure. She and Howie loved to travel, canoe, ride bikes, play tennis, and ski. She will be remembered for her optimistic nature, zest for life, love for those around her, and faithful love for God.

John 11:25-26
“Jesus said to her (Martha), ‘I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live, and everyone who lives and believes in me shall never die. Do you believe this?’”
