Betsy Ann (Richardson) Smith, 83, of Quincy passed away peacefully on Thursday December 5, 2024. Betsy was born in Boston and raised in Hingham. She was a 1959 graduate of Hingham High school and was inducted into the National Honor Society. After high school Betsy attended New England Deaconess School of Nursing.
After completing nursing school Betsy shifted her attention to her marriage and starting a family in Hingham, then moving to Weymouth. She devoted her energy to being a good mother and homemaker. She was devoted to her church and her faith. She loved music, dancing and classic movies and spending time with her many friends and her family.
After the death of her husband, Hugh H. Smith in 2013, Betsy moved from Weymouth to Brookdale Assisted Living in Quincy.
Betsy is survived by her two children, Christine Margotta of Quincy and Keith Housman of Weymouth. She is the loving Grandmother of Joseph Margotta, James Margotta and Anna Margotta all of Quincy. Betsy is also the sister of Ruth Lakin of England and Linda Webber of Plymouth as well as several nieces and nephews. Betsy was also the former wife of the late Phillip Housman.
A memorial service will be held at the Kingdom Hall of Holbrook, 314 North Franklin Street, Holbrook on Sunday, January 5, 2024, at 3:00 p.m. Relatives and friends are invited.
