Brenda Lee (Johnston) Cuneo, 64, of Quincy, passed away on March 31, 2025. Her passing marks the loss of a woman whose generous spirit and deep care for the world left a lasting impression on all who knew her.
Born in Quincy on April 22, 1960, Brenda was the daughter of Carol A. (Schuerch) Johnston and the late Rev. Robert L. Johnston. Brenda was a graduate of the Woodward School for Girls in Quincy, class of 1978 before graduating with a degree in English from the University of Massachusetts, Boston.
Brenda dedicated her professional life to education and care. She taught at Abington High School, where she influenced countless students with her knowledge and compassion. Later, she brought that same dedication to Pembroke Hospital, contributing to the well-being of children with empathy and compassion.
Brenda shared her life with her husband, Edmund Cuneo. They married in 1981 and settled in Abington. She was a devoted mother to Jennifer Riendeau and her husband Bryan, and Andrew Cuneo and his wife Marci. Her role as grandmother brought her immense joy; she cherished every moment spent with Brady Cuneo, Callie Cuneo, and Armand Riendeau.
She is also remembered by her mother Carol A. Johnston; her brother Rev. Peter Johnston and his partner Michael Maggard—each of whom held a special place in Brenda’s heart. Brenda was loved and cherished by a large circle of friends from many places in her life. Her house was always open to anyone who needed refreshment.
