Carolyn “Carol” (Cushman) Tierney, 75, of Bridgewater formerly of Taunton, died peacefully on the evening of Thursday May 29, 2025 surrounded by the love, comfort and care of family following a courageous and hard-fought battle with cancer over many years. She was the fourth of six children born to the late James & Irene (Emond) Cushman, and the beloved wife of 27 years to the late Edward T. Tierney who died in 2009.
Born and raised in Taunton, Carol was a friendly and outgoing person who cared deeply for her family and friends. Her infectious laugh could light up a room, and she relished the times spent with her family and friends; whether she was camping, going for walks with her dog, Gigi, or getting together with girlfriends for lunch, Carol enjoyed being with the people she loved and built lasting friendships with.
After graduating Taunton High School in 1967, Carol soon started working in the Book Services Group of Rand-McNally for several years before the company closed its Taunton location. She then worked for Roche Brothers in Bridgewater for more than 30 years before retiring in 2020.
Ed and Carol were long-time campers, having a seasonal campsite for many years at the former Tispaquin Family Camping Area in Middleboro where they were joined by many family and friends, and where they also made many new friends. Those who knew Carol will recall many late nights in the screenhouse playing card games like 45 (her favorite) and cribbage. She also enjoyed making trips to area casinos where she enjoyed playing the slot machines.
Carol also liked watching old game shows on the Gameshow Network, especially Twenty-Five Words or Less, and was an avid bowler. For more than 40 years she bowled as a member of the Untouchables League that competed at Taunton Ten Pin.
She was the loving mother of Kelly J. Tierney (and doggie-grandma to Baron) of Bridgewater. Dear sister of the late Bobby Cushman, Smokey Cushman of Mansfield and his late wife Robin (Briggs) Cushman, the late Stevie Cushman and his surviving wife Dawn Cushman of St. Petersburg Fla, Wayne Cushman and his partner Joanie King of Taunton, and the late Donna Haskins and her surviving husband, Jimmy Haskins, of Easton. Also survived by many cherished nieces, nephews, great-nieces & nephews, extended family and close friends who will greatly miss her.
Visiting Hours Thursday June 5, 2025 from 4:00-7:00pm at the Riendeau-Mulvey Funeral Home, 467 Bay Street, Taunton. Funeral Friday June 6 at 10:00am at the funeral home.
