Catherine "Cathy" (McNeil) McDowell

McDowell, Catherine “Cathy” J. (McNeil), age 66, passed away on November 13, 2020 after a courageous battle with cancer. Cathy grew up in Charlestown, MA and was one of three children to the late Evelyn J. (Donald) McNeil and Gerald E. McNeil, Sr.  She was a Quincy resident for more than 25 years. Cathy enjoyed knitting blankets for loved ones, playing bingo, word puzzles and slot machines.  Most of all, she loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Cathy will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by her three daughters; Brenda McLaughlin and her husband Eugene of Whitman; Jeanette Castonguay and husband James of Hingham; and Pamela Brunelle of Quincy.  The adored and cherished grandmother "Nana" of Owen Joseph, Colin Scott and Luke Theodore McLaughlin; Chloe Elizabeth Brunelle; Matthew James and Benjamin John Castonguay. Loving sister of Gerald “Jerry” E McNeil, Jr of Quincy; and the late Sandra “Sandy” Mallard of Charlestown.  She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Funeral services will be held at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, 237 Sea Street, Quincy, on Friday, November 20th from 11-11:30.  Masks must be worn for all services and social distancing guidelines practiced.  Visiting hours will be private due to COVID-19 restrictions.
