Chi A Luu, of Quincy Massachusetts, passed away on Friday April 17th 2026.
Mr. Luu, his wife and daughter emigrated from Vietnam in 1975 and have been residents of Quincy, MA for over 50 years.
He had an unrelenting spirit but his joys were simple: his family, his garden, and sharing his knowledge with others.
Mr. Luu was a self-made man and a jack of all trades. He used his keen wit, innate intelligence and creativity, and unwavering determination to teach himself the skills to be an electrician, plumber, carpenter and general fixer of all things.
He was a great cook and expressed his love through his food. He loved to grill meat and have dinner outside in with his family. He happily passed on his recipes and his love of cooking to his grandsons. He was happiest when he could cook for them and he always made sure there was always something at every meal that each would like.
He also enjoyed working in his garden. He was an avid gardener and would spend the entire day in the garden. But what gave him the most joy was watching his grandsons grow. He had a big soft spot in his heart for each and every one of them.
Mr. Luu is survived by his loving wife Chi K. Truong, Daughter Huong Kim Vautour and her husband Blair J. Vautour, his grandchildren Thomas B. V. Vautour, Jonathan E. Vautour, Daniel C. Vautour and David H. Vautour.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Mr. Luu’s Visiting Hours on Tuesday, April 28, 2026, from 10:00am to 11:30am at Hamel-Lydon Chapel, 650 Hancock Street, Quincy. A Casket Closing Ceremony will begin promptly at 11:30am, followed by a funeral procession to Forest Hills Cemetery in Boston for a small private cremation.
