Choy Kwen Lee, 96, of Boston for 21 years, beloved wife and mother. She was a devoted homemaker raising her children and caring for her home. She enjoyed being outdoors in her garden and was a natural-born cook who loved preparing delicious meals for her family. Her most memorable meal for the family and relatives was her homemade spaghetti sauce. She loved Chinese opera and Hong Kong singers and traveled to Atlantic City to see them.
She and her late husband traveled frequently after his retirement, visiting many places in China for months at a time. Choy Kwen was an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching the Boston Red Sox, Celtics and Bruins and even attended several games in person with her husband and son. Her favorite players for each sport are Nomar Garciaparra, Larry Bird and Bobby Orr. She loved watching TV game shows including The Price is Right, Wheel of Fortune and Family Feud.
After her husband’s passing, Choy Kwen reconnected with friends and began to attend Boston Chinese Evangelical Church where she re-established her love for her Lord. She decided to move to Boston after living in Taunton for over 50 years to be closer to church. She enjoyed worship service, participated in activities and she eventually got baptized in 2003. She faithfully read the bible even after her health declined and she was unable to continue to go to church.
In her later years, she enjoyed participating in the adult daycare program in Boston’s Chinatown and never missed a day unless it was a snow day. She enjoyed the singing, activities, crafts, monthly birthday celebrations and especially having breakfast and lunch.
She was born in Taishan, China and married her husband Jong Wah Lee in 1949. After they married, they moved to New York City and eventually relocated to Taunton, Massachusetts where they raised their 5 children.
Choy Kwen is survived by her late daughter Lotus M. Wade of California and her children Christine and late son Timothy; four sons, Kenneth M. Lee of Boston and his former wife Jen and his children Edward and Jay; Raymond M. Lee and his wife Deborah of Taunton and their children Matthew and Brandon; Victor M. Lee of Boston and his dog Jonah; 6 great grandchildren Cody, Justin, Ashley, Harper, Bridget and Bryan; her late brother Peter and sisters the late Jeanne, Carole, Alice, and the late Judy.
