Known for her kindness and sweetness, Claudia, Elaine Van Putten (76) passed away peacefully at Falmouth hospital on March 18, 2025. Claudia was the daughter of the late William Van Putten and Alice (Alberg) Van Putten, as well as the sister of the late Nancy Clarke of Cotuit. She is survived by her sister Dianne Smith ( Paul) of Cotuit and her brother William Van Putten of Mashpee. She also leaves behind a niece Alexandra Smith of Braintree, Stephen Clarke, husband of the former Nancy Clarke of Cotuit, and Claudia‘s beloved partner of 35 years Clifton Arnensen of Canton. Upon graduating from Milton high school, Claudia was employed by the John Hancock Company. Working for the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs for over 30 years was close to her heart, as she always enjoyed helping others. A sports enthusiast, the Red Sox and the Patriots were favorite teams, and she was often seen cheering them on. Because of her love of animals, especially cats and dogs, donations may be made to any animal shelter or humane society of the donor’s choice.
