Diane Fernandez

Diane (McGregor) Fernandez, of Abington, passed away of natural causes on May 2, 2022 at the age of 84. She had been a caring wife, mother, daughter, sister, grandmother, great grandmother and friend.

Diane was born in Quincy, to the late James R., Jr and Evelyn (Winlock) McGregor. She and her late brother, James III were raised and educated in Quincy. She was a 1955 graduate of Quincy High School.

In 1977, Diane met and married the love of her life, Edward Fernandez. They often held family gatherings at their home, filled with lots of love and laughs!

Sadly, after 26 years together, Edward was taken from her life.

She enjoyed taking walks with her dog Freddy, messing around in the yard with her plants and flowers, travelling, collecting porcelain dolls (that terrified her granddaughter), painting beautiful landscapes and interior decorating, which to the delight of her family was only a passing hobby! What this woman could do with some paint and spackle…oh my!

Diane loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. It didn’t matter where she was, if she was with family, she was in her happy place.

She is survived by her estranged son Mark Roberts & his family, daughter Sharon Chafe and her husband Larry, son Dean Roberts and his wife Michelle, son Scot Roberts and his wife Christiana, step-son David Fernandez, step-son Mark Fernandez and his wife Nancy, step-daughter Deanna Fernandez and step-daughter Charlene Fernandez.

She is also survived by her grandson, Joshua Chafe, his wife Christine and their  daughters, Thira & Coren; granddaughter, Jacquelyn Bacon, her husband Nick and their sons, Brenner & Quinton; step-grandson, Kyle Fernandez and step-granddaughter, Emily Fernandez. She will also be dearly missed by her "adopted Irish girls", Ciara & Kate; several nieces & nephews and many friends!

There will be no formal funeral service. Diane will be cremated and interred next to her loving husband, brother and parents. There will be a small, private celebration of life at a later date.
