Dorothea (Dottie) Corcoran, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and devoted servant of Christ, passed away peacefully after a life filled with love, faith, and service.
Born and raised in Marshfield, Dottie grew up helping on her family farm, where she learned the value of hard work and faith in God. A proud graduate of Marshfield High School, she began her career at Raytheon in Quincy. It was there she met the love of her life, William Corcoran, her devoted husband. They married and built a beautiful life together, raising three children — Brian Corcoran of Florida, Sheila and her husband Kenneth Alves of Whitman, and Kevin Corcoran Sr. of Braintree — and making their home in Braintree, where Dottie lived for 63 years.
Through her longtime service in prison ministry and by walking the streets of Boston for decades, Dottie shared the Gospel and touched countless lives with compassion and hope. Her deep Christian faith guided every aspect of her life, and she devoted herself fully to Jesus.
Dottie was a wonderful mother and took great joy and pride in her grandchildren — Christopher Corcoran, Barry Corcoran, Tiffany Isenhart (and her husband, Shane Isenhart), Richard Alves, Jillian Alves, Nicole (Corcoran) Pollitt (and her husband, Ricardo Pollitt), Samantha Corcoran Pittman (and her husband, William Pittman), Kevin Corcoran Jr., and Emma Corcoran — as well as her great-grandchildren, Elliana Isenhart; Aiden, Rylan, Lunah, and Theia Pittman; and Noah and Amelia Pollitt, all of whom brought her endless happiness.
Dorothea was the daughter of the late Benjamin Rodrigues and the late Mary (Perry) Rodrigues, and is survived by her brother, Robert Rodrigues.
Dorothea will be remembered for her kindness, strength, unwavering faith, and the love she poured into everyone around her. She touched so many lives and will be deeply missed by her family, her many friends, and all those blessed to have known her.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial for Dorothea on Monday December 22nd at 10am at St. Francis of Assisi, 856 Washington Street, Braintree. Visiting hours will be held Sunday, December 21st at the Hamel-Lydon Chapel 650 Hancock Street, Quincy from 2:00pm-4:00pm.
