George Anthony Rodriguez, born in the Bronx, New York, and raised in Hialeah, Florida, passed away at the age of 61 after a valiant fight against cancer. A proud graduate of Hialeah High School in 1981, George was an enthusiastic member of the marching band and a dedicated runner even then.
He pursued higher education in Boston, attending Boston University where he earned his degree in Political Science in 1984. He continued his studies at Suffolk University, graduating with a Juris Doctor in 1990.
George’s passion for running was evident throughout his life, with over 50 marathons completed globally, including 24 Boston Marathons. He cherished the camaraderie found in running groups, though he had little patience for 5Ks unless there was beer at the finish line.
His love for theater led him to New York to enjoy Broadway shows, and he became deeply involved in the Boston Theater Community. Starting as a union usher at the Schubert Theater, he eventually rose to become a house manager at the Boch Center, including the Wang and Schubert Theaters.
Traveling was another of George’s great passions, and he explored many countries including Australia, South Africa, England, Germany, and beyond.
George is proceeded in death by his mother, Lillian Yolanda (Serrano) Rodriguez and survived by his husband, John P. Langille; his father, James Rodriguez, Sr.; his sister, Lisa Rodriguez-Rivas; his brother, James Rodriguez, Jr.; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, cousins, and all of whom that were touched by his presence.
Rest in perfection, George.
