Herbert J. Cameron of Quincy formerly of Weymouth and Dorchester, passed away on Wednesday, February 10, 2026. Son of John and Mary Cameron Born February 22,1927, in Boston, MA. He was a graduate of the former High School of Commerce in Boston. Herbert was a Combat Veteran, drafted into the US Army, K Company, BMT, Camp Polk, Louisianna before serving in action on the front lines of Korea. Following his service, he returned to the US and worked to support his mother, consequently giving up his education. His father died when Herbert was very young.
Herbert worked his whole career with the 1st National Bank of Boston, then Bank Boston and finally part of Bank America. He worked in the finance department as a manager setting standards for workplace performance and efficiency. He was a longtime member of the Work Measurement, Association of Banking and Finance Industry serving as its president.
He enjoyed taking photos, and was two time president and longtime member of the South. Shore Camera Club during which time he met one of the models Charline Tinkham. They would have a long time love affair until her death on February 10, 2024.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours Tuesday February 17, 2026, from 10 - 12 PM in the Hamel- Lydon Chapel, 650 Hancock St., Quincy. A funeral service will follow visiting hours at 12 noon. Burial Pine Hill Cemetery, Quincy.
