James “Jim” Alvin Jillson, 88, of Andover and formerly of Hudson, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, surrounded by his children.
Born in Clinton, Massachusetts, he was the youngest son of the late James Theodore Jillson and Anastasia Catherine (Kearney) Jillson. He was predeceased by his brothers, Paul and Edward Jillson.
He is survived by his beloved partner, Elaine Doucette of Andover, with whom he shared many years of love and companionship. Together, they built a life grounded in
care for one another and those around them. Jim is also survived by his three children, Lindsay, Vanessa, and Trevor Jillson.
He was an incredibly dedicated father and told them often—at every opportunity—how much he loved them. He supported them with unwavering devotion, always encouraging them to be themselves, to follow their own paths, and to take care of one another—a message that remained close to his heart throughout his life.
Jim spent much of his career working in manufacturing and later (after a brief attempt at retirement) working as a security guard at the Addison Gallery of American Art. While he took pride in his work, what mattered most to him were the people around him. He built lasting relationships with colleagues and friends alike, approaching others with a quiet kindness, patience, and generosity that left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him. His friendships were deeply important to him, and he was profoundly grateful for the support, loyalty, and companionship of those who were part of his life throughout the years.
He found joy in life’s simple pleasures: a love of cars, a nightly dish of ice cream, and a good cup of tea. He also had a special fondness for animals, especially Bailey, Angel, Moose, and Chewie, who brought him great comfort and companionship over the years. Above all, Jim will be remembered for his steady presence and the genuine kindness he showed to others. He had a remarkable way of making people feel seen, accepted, and cared for, and his warmth will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
Memorial contributions can be made on Jim’s behalf to Buddy Dog Humane Society, Inc.
