Janet Coughlin of Squantum, passed away on May 29, 2025 at home. Wife of the late Gerard "Jerry" Coughlin. Daughter of the late Charles and Alice Melvin. Cherished mother of Gerard Coughlin Jr. and his wife Melissa of Squantum, Lee Forrest and her husband Richard of Weymouth and Lesley Coughlin of Squantum. Sister of the recently departed Peter Melvin. Adored grandmother of Kelsey, Jack and Cole Coughlin all of Squantum. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Janet was born on December 30, 1941 in Quincy. She married the love of her life, Jerry, on July 6, 1963. Janet and Jerry eventually moved to Squantum and brought up 3 children in a loving and nurturing household. Janet started her career as a nurse at the Blue Hills Regional Tech School in Canton and eventually she moved on to work for State Senator Michael Morrissey. She loved and excelled at this job, as she was able to interact with and help people as befit her outgoing personality.
Janet was always active in her Squantum Community. She was a volunteer for the N.Q.H.S football booster club. Upon her husband Jerry's death in 1991 she made sure to provide her children with a safe and loving environment as they reached adulthood. She was an avid traveler and liked nothing more than spending time in Eastham with her friends Holly and Paul or heading to Florida to visit friends. Janet loved dining out with the Collin's and the Morrissey's. But her biggest joy was spending time with her grandchildren. She will always be remembered for her outgoing and loving personality and was always available to help Family and friends when it was needed.
