Janet Sybil (Burrows) Hallsworth, age 94 of Quincy died January 24, 2020 at Bay Path Rehab & Nursing Center in Duxbury. Born in Boston, MA. Daughter of the late Janet Lang. She was predeceased in death by her husbands, Charles G. Smith and Robert W. Hallsworth, and longtime partner, John Hassam; sons Gregg C. Smith, Robert J. Smith, and daughter, Gayle S. Smith.Loving mother of Donna MacLean and her partner Peter Kowilcik of Plymouth; Kent D. Smith, Bradley J. Smith and his wife, Kristine of Georgia; and Stephen A. Smith and his wife, Teresa of Marblehead. Sister of the late Hazel Alma Stein and Auntie to Marcy and Andrea. Grand-niece of the late Marion (Lang) and Herbert O. Thwing of Wakefield, NH, and Auntie to Teri. Grandmother of 12 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.Sybil renovated and decorated many houses during her lifetime.
Sybil worked for many years at the Bank of Boston and later at Rochester Bank and Trust in NH. She reflected fondly on her friends from New Hampshire and especially enjoyed singing with the choir and attending Sunday services at the First Congregational Church in Wakefield, NH. Sybil never passed up a chance to go antiquing, and enjoyed baking for Holidays, reading, solving crossword puzzles, playing Scrabble and card-games with her lifelong friends.During her retirement years, Sybil loved walking the beach collecting shells and sea glass. She enjoyed many winters with her love, John, in Bonita Springs, Florida.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend her memorial service Wednesday, January 29th at 2:00pm in the Church of the Pilgrimage, 8 Town Square, Plymouth, MA. Interment private. Rev. Helen Noble, Pastor, officiating.
