Joseph Tavares

Joseph J. Tavares, 65, of Quincy formerly of Taunton, passed away April 30, 2025. He was the loving son of Joseph S. Tavares of Taunton and the late Diane L. (Borges) Tavares.

Born and raised in Taunton, Joe enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 1980 and proudly served our country with honor.

Joe had a green thumb and enjoyed tending to his mother’s flower gardens around their home. He was a loving son and loyal friend who will be sadly missed.

In addition to his father, Joseph, Joe is also survived by his loving sister, Patricia Flanagan and her husband Kevin Flanagan of Brockton, and brother Ward F. Tavares, Sr. of Taunton. Beloved uncle to Luke and Jake Flanagan, Ward F. Tavares, Jr., Tiffani Tavares, and the late Ryan Medeiros-Tavares. Also survived by several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend his interment service with military honors on Wednesday June 4, 2025 at 11:30am at the Massachusetts National Cemetery at Bourne, off Connery Avenue, Bourne Massachusetts 02532.
