Kenneth Joseph “Kenny” Quigley, 58, of Weymouth, formerly of Dorchester, died during the early afternoon hours of Sunday January 12, 2024 surrounded by the love, comfort, and care of his beloved family following a lengthy illness. He was the loving husband of more than 30 years to Susan M. (Coffey) Quigley, to whom he was joined in Holy matrimony on November 5, 1994.
Born and raised in Dorchester, Kenny was the seventh of eight children born to the late David and Elinor (Sullivan) Quigley. He graduated Madison Park High School in 1985 before joining U.S. Army Reserves where he served his country for eight years before being honorably discharged in January 1994.
He worked for a time as a fruit card vendor in Ashmont Station, where he would eventually meet his future wife, Susan. He also worked in construction as a jack-of-all-trades, doing everything from carpentry work, painting, and contracting. Being especially talented working with his hands, Kenny enjoyed restoring and refinishing furniture…many times working on pieces right on his back porch in Dorchester. He also liked collecting items like Marlboro box tops and anything with an eagle on it. He is remembered best by his laugh, the comfort he offered those he loved, and his loving personality. He was a fast friend to all and brought light into any space he entered.
In addition to being survived by his wife, Susan, he is the loving father of Heather Quigley of Weymouth and Julie Quigley of Quincy. Dear brother of David “Michael” Quigley of Roxbury, Paula Hurley and her husband Philip of Weymouth, Christine Quigley of Quincy, Kathleen Brodeur and her husband Donald of Abington, John Quigley of Kansas, Brian “Tiger” Quigley of South Boston and the late Martin “Marty” Quigley. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and good friends.
Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend his memorial visiting hours on Friday January 24, 2025 from 4:00-7:00pm at Hamel-Lydon Chapel, 650 Hancock St, Quincy, during which time a Catholic wake service and prayers will take place.
