It is with deep sorrow that, Lee Matus Schmidt, age 90, passed away on Thursday,January 8, 2026 at Beaumont. Natick, Massachusetts.
She was born on October 17, 1935 in Kingston, Pennsylvania. Lee studied at Cedar Crest College followed by a career in journalism with the South Middlesex News and a career in real estate with both Century 21 and DeWolfe.
In addition to her parents, she was proceeded in death by her brother William Matus and daughter Colleen Schmidt along with Colleen’s children, Kelsey and Tyler. She is survived by her sons and their wives, William Schmidt & Rowena Schmidt, James Schmidt & Barbara Schmidt; her grandchildren: Jamie, Kate, Steven and Joshua; and great grandchild Kennedy Lee.
Driven by an endless thirst for knowledge and human connection, Lee was a lifelong learner who taught generosity, curiosity and love. Lee’s legacy of humor, perseverance and learning will be carried forward by those who had the privilege of knowing her. Her remarkable life will forever be an inspiration and testament to the power of an indomitable spirit enthused with curiosity and resilience.
At her request, there will be no service or funeral. She most likely wished that her passing brought family and friends closer together in their own ways.
