Mary (Mimi) E. (Youngworth) Damis

Mary E. (Youngworth) Damis, 87, of Braintree, formerly of Quincy, Massachusetts, passed away on Monday, November 11, 2024. She was the daughter of the late Joseph P. and Mary E. (Hughes) Youngworth. Mary, affectionally known as “Mimi” was born and raised in Squantum, Massachusetts. In her youth, Mimi was active in the Squantum community and a member of the First Congregational Church of Squantum. Mimi graduated from North Quincy High School in 1955 and Boston State Teachers College in 1959. She worked as a teacher in NewYork City, Portland, Oregon, and Braintree, Massachusetts. Mimi had a lifelong passionfor learning and enjoyed sharing that with others. Mimi will be remembered for her kind and loving nature. She had a gentle way of making every person she encountered feel special. Mimi loved history, reading, cooking, the ocean, reading her Bible and most of all, spending time with her beloved family. Above all, Mimi was a woman of God with a deep and abiding faith in her Lord Jesus Christ.

She is survived by her two sons, Nicholas A. Damis and his wife, Maddy of Phoenix Arizona and Alexander J. Damis and his wife Michelle, of St. Helens Oregon. She was the sister of Joseph P. Youngworth and his wife Lois of Braintree MA, and the late Linda McSweeny. She was the stepsister of Jane Carosi of Quincy MA and Ellen Hurley of Maine. She is survived by two granddaughters, Lena Damis of California and Ava Damis of Oregon. She was the former wife of James J. Damis of Portland Oregon. She is survived by many nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind many dear friends. She will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.

A graveside service will be held for Mimi at the Blue Hill Cemetery, 700 West Street, Braintree, MA on Monday November 18, 2024, at 2:30 P.M.  Please meet at the office driveway directly across the street from Blue Hill Cemetery at 2:15 P.M.
