Maryann (Morgan) Cormier began her final journey on November 9, 2024. Born May 4, 1936, to the late Herman B. and Catherine (Suter) Morgan, she spent her youth in Genoa, Illinois, graduating from Genoa-Kingston High School (1954) and Marquette University (1958).
Maryann taught fifth-grade math and science in Marengo, Illinois, and Brookline, Massachusetts. In 1975, she married her greatest love, Oliver Alphy Cormier, partnering with him to build Almarco, a successful fabric supply business based in Holbrook, Massachusetts.
Maryann chose a life of adventure, traveling on her school breaks to many places worldwide, always remembering family, bringing exotic coins and gifts home. Maryann loved complicated forms of bridge, cribbage, and card games. She also enjoyed sewing and making many of her clothes. Maryann always had a book nearby to read when she had a free moment.
Maryann was the family’s memory keeper and storyteller, a meaningful presence at significant events, always there with a camera, a smile, kind support, and Al. She provided homemade fudge, raspberry jam, sourdough pancakes, and many household necessities and meals for her family and friends. For others, she donated her time and energy volunteering in her retirement.
Maryann always had a positive aspect and was cheery. She tended to make people feel better about themselves. She lived her life with great faith in God.
Maryann was preceded in death by her husband, and she is survived by her sister, Jane Stenstrom, her brother, Charles Morgan, and sister, Rosemary Eckert, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, and a few greats.
Maryann's funeral will be held at St. Albert the Great Catholic Church in Weymouth, MA, on Saturday, December 7, at 10:00 AM. Following the funeral, a private interment ceremony will occur at St. Mary's Cemetery in Randolph, MA. Her family suggests a memorial contribution to a place of your choosing or an act of kindness in place of flowers.
