Maureen Daniels,78, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 25th, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family. She was a lifelong Massachusetts resident, born in Boston and raised in West Roxbury, before eventually settling in Quincy—a city she called home for many years.
She was the wife of the late Kimmo Thor Daniels, with whom she had four loving children: Joseph, Jeanine, Richard, and Kristafor. Her greatest joy came from her family, and she found deep pride in being a devoted grandmother to her nine grandchildren.
A proud graduate of North Quincy High School, she worked for over a decade as a laborer with the Local #33 Laborers Union in Quincy and later dedicated approximately 15 years to serving the community at Quincy Hospital. Her work ethic was matched only by her compassion and generosity.
Maureen was the beloved daughter of the late Margaret and John Powers and grew up in a lively home with her five siblings: Collin, Michael, Jack, Bobby, and Sister Cecilia. Family meant everything to her, and she always made sure holidays were special—her mashed potatoes were legendary, and her warmth made every gathering feel magical.
She found peace and joy in the simple pleasures of life. One of her favorite places was Castle Island, where she could often be found sitting by the water, watching the planes fly overhead. She was generous to a fault, with a silly, wild side and a sense of humor that lit up the room. With her timeless beauty, classy elegance, and fun-loving style, she left a lasting impression on everyone who knew her.
Maureen will be remembered for her strength, her laughter, her boundless love, and the joy she brought into the lives of others. Her memory will be cherished always.
