Maureen C. MacMillan (Walsh) of Plymouth, beloved and devoted wife, mother and grandmother, passed away on November 4, 2023, peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones.
Maureen was born on April 16, 1941, in Jewett City, CT. After graduating from Medford High School, she began working as a Telephone Operator. Maureen was proud of her time at the telephone company, where she built a career and earned a management position. Ultimately, she decided to give up her job to raise her four sons. In time, she returned to the workforce and performed various jobs until she could no longer do so due to replacements of both her hips and knees.
Maureen derived joy from doting on her family, shopping, enjoying a good meal and cocktail - her favorite being a simple cheeseburger, visiting with her sisters, laughing, talking endlessly on the phone, listening to music, visiting casinos, playing KENO, and watching game shows.
Maureen is survived by her sons Shawn J. and Kevin J.; her grandchildren Jenna E. Prentice, Caitrin M. MacMillan, Hannah A. MacMillan and Adam J. MacMillan; her great granddaughter Kennedy R. Soukup; her extended family Cynthia J. Rowe, Marla E. Prentice, Cassandra M. Lawson, Mary E. Hakkila; her brother-in-law Robert L. MacMillan; many nieces and nephews; and her grand dog Charlie.
Maureen was preceded in death by her husband Joseph A.; sons Gary J. and Edward J.; parents Edward P. Walsh and Antoinette T. Laskowski; and siblings Margaret A. Walsh, Edward F. Walsh, Elizabeth E. Hall, and Sheila A. MacMillan.
The family of Maureen invite friends and family to join them in celebrating her life on Monday, November 13, 2023, at 10:00 AM at St. Bonaventure's Parish in Manomet. Following the funeral mass, there will be a small gathering to share memories and stories. Details to follow. If you should choose, the family requests that donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or Shriners Children's charities. The family appreciates your support and expressions of sympathy during this difficult time.
