Michael Denio Obituary

Michael C. Denio, “Pop Pop”, 63, of Boylston, Massachusetts passed away on April 7, 2022 at the home he shared with his daughter.  Michael leaves many behind that love and will miss him including his spouse Beverly Denio of Berlin, and his beloved children, daughter Michelle Denio of Boylston; sons Michael E. Denio of Clinton; Joseph Denio and his wife Anna of Berlin, Patrick Denio of Berlin; sisters Maryellen Johnson of Clinton and Maureen Denio of Templeton; brothers Richard Denio of Shrewsbury and William Denio of Jacksonville, FL and his two grandchildren Luciano and Giana of Berlin.

Michael was born in Clinton, MA to the late Richard and Maureen (Scanlon) Denio of Lancaster on August 9, 1958.  Michael grew up in Lancaster and was a Graduate of Nashoba Regional High School in 1976, where he was a pitcher for the Nashoba Chieftains baseball team.  He later attended Quinsigamond Community College where he studied Accounting and worked at Westboro State Hospital for 30 years, managing patient funds.  His favorite part of his job was interacting with patients and getting to know them.

He was an avid sports fan and followed all of Boston sports religiously, especially the Bruins and Red Sox.  As a teenager he organized many street hockey games with his friends in his parent’s driveway and later coached a Lancaster little league team for several years.  His other passions included fishing, trivia and movies.  Michael also had a great sense of humor and the ability to make light of any situation with jokes and an infectious laugh.

Per Michael’s wishes, there will not be any public services. The family is planning a private celebration of his life.  Donations can be made in Michael’s honor to Good Sports, a charity that combines Michael’s love for sports and children at https://www.goodsports.org/ or by mailing a check payable to Good Sports, Inc., 1515 Washington Street, Suite 300, Braintree, MA 02184.
