Michael J. Moriarty, 78, of Quincy, died peacefully surrounded by the love, comfort and care of his family on the afternoon of Saturday July 12, 2025. He was the son of the late Michael F. and Mary K. (Moore) Moriarty.
Raised in Quincy, he attended Quincy schools and, initially, worked for General Dynamics at the Fore River Shipyard. Before long Michael began working in the sign manufacturing business with Ford Advertising. Eventually he started his own company, Sign Erectors, in the mid-1980’s which he operated for several years. He was a member of the Son’s of the American Legion and a was a former member of the Quincy Lodge of Elks. He loved the being on and near the sea and had several wooden boats over the years.
Loving father of Michael D. Moriarty and his wife Lisa of Quincy, and William R. Moriarty and his wife Deborah of Braintree. Dear brother of Mary Pothier of Milton and her late husband, Edward. Cherished grandfather of Kathryn Moriarty of Quincy and Kassandra Moriarty of Easton. He was the former husband of Jean Weiss of Quincy and Lorraine Moriarty of Ormond Beach, Florida.
Michael’s family would like to thank the caring staff at Harbor House in Hingham and Beacon Hospice.
A Celebration of Life is planned for Sunday, August 10, 2025, from 2:00pm to 6:00pm at the Cyril P. Morrisette post # 294 of the American Legion, 81 Liberty St., Quincy, MA.
