Michael D. O'Brien

Michael D. O'Brien  of Rockland, formerly of Quincy, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 24th, 2020 at the age of 67.

Beloved Husband of Patricia O’Brien of Rockland.

Dedicated Father of Christopher O’Brien of Rockland.

Son of Elizabeth O’Brien of Quincy and the late Richard O’Brien.

Brother of Patricia O’Brien, Mary O’Brien and Anne Marie O’Brien, as well as the late Paul O’Brien, Peter O’Brien and Richard O’Brien.

Michael leaves behind several nieces and nephews, including Kevin O’Brien of Braintree, to whom Michael stood as a father figure for over forty years. He also leaves behind dear friend William Kennedy of Vermont.

Michael was born on July 9th, 1953. Early on in life, Michael served honorably as a medic in the United States Army. After his time in the military, he went on to build houses, as well as use his skills in photography to capture the simple joys in life. He married his wife Patricia on June 27th, 1985. They welcomed their only child Christopher in May of 1990. Michael loved the ocean, lighthouses, science fiction, astronomy and classic rock (His favorite band being The Beatles). His hobbies included coin collecting, drawing, bird watching and following local sports teams, such as The Patriots and Red Sox. A dedicated family man, Michael was known for his big heart, quick wit and unwavering generosity.

Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend a memorial service in the spring, details of which are to follow in the near future.
