Mildred Conine Obituary

Mildred “Millie” Kennedy Conine, a devoted mother, beloved Nana, and proud U.S. Marine, passed away peacefully on August 15, 2025, at the age of 92.

Born on October 6, 1932, in the Lower Mills neighborhood of Boston, Massachusetts, Millie later made her home in Quincy, Hull, and Scituate. She was the youngest daughter of the late Norman and Estella Kennedy and sister to the late Jean Simmons, Marjorie Wysocki, and Norman Kennedy. She graduated from Hyde Park High School and went on to serve her country with honor as a Sergeant in the United States Marine Corps.

Millie enjoyed a long and successful career, retiring from Sears after over 30 years of dedicated service. She will be remembered not only for her strong work ethic but also for the warmth, humor, and kindness she brought to every aspect of her life.

Millie’s greatest joy came from her family. She is survived by her loving children: Nancy Vargo of Clearwater, Florida; Michael Conine and his wife Roseanne of Quincy; Susan Dunn and her husband Timothy of Scituate; Thomas Conine of New Hampshire; Pamela Colarusso of Plymouth; and Lisa Nelligan and her husband Jay of Abington.
She was predeceased by her beloved son, Stephen Conine.

She leaves behind an extraordinary legacy: 18 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren, all of whom brought her endless pride and happiness.

Millie had a lifelong love of traveling, reading, relaxing at the beach, and animals of all kinds, but above all, she cherished time spent with family and those she loved. Millie will be deeply missed and forever remembered for the strength, love, and laughter she shared with all who knew her.

Her family extends heartfelt thanks to Queen Anne Nursing Home for the compassionate care they provided over the past three years.

Visiting hours will be held Friday, August 29th from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Hamel Lydon Chapel, 650 Hancock Street, Quincy, followed by a funeral procession to Cedar Grove Cemetery in Dorchester, Massachusetts.

If inclined, any donations could be sent to the Scituate Animal Shelter.
