Patricia Shannon Obituary

Patricia E. Shannon (Nickerson), 72, also known as “Patty”, “Mom”, “Ma” or “Grammy” passed away peacefully at home with her family on Saturday, June 19, 2021 after a long and courageous battle with pulmonary arterial hypertension and lung cancer.

Born in Boston, MA, she was one of seven children born to the parents of William and Sarah Nickerson.  She was raised in South Boston and attended school there before moving to Weymouth where she graduated from high school in the class of 1966.

She was the wife of Michael Shannon with whom she shared 49 years of marriage.  Patricia’s most favorite occupation was being a Mom and Grammy.  She loved being with her family, her trips to St. Maarten and the holidays.  She excelled and will be most remembered for creating the most amazing crochet blankets and artwork for those around her – never a request to tall from her grandchildren who she loved dearly.

Patricia is survived by her loving and devoted family, her husband Michael Shannon, daughter Kerry Barrett and her husband Brian, daughter Amy Connor and her husband Tom along with her cherished grandchildren Jake and Sean Barrett, Jack, Emma, and Sara Connor all from Braintree.  She is also survived by her brothers and sisters, nieces, and nephews.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend her memorial visiting hours Monday, June 28, 2021 from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Hamel-Lydon Chapel & Cremation Service of Mass., 650 Hancock Street, Quincy, MA 02170.  Parking attendants will be available.
