Paul Patrick O’Hara, 88, of Quincy formerly of Savin Hill, passed away peacefully on the evening of Tuesday August 27, 2024 surrounded by the love, comfort and care of his family. He was the devoted husband of more than 40 years to Theresa “Terry” O’Hara.
Born in Dorchester and raised in Savin Hill, Paul was the youngest of six children born to the late James and Mary (Sweeney) O’Hara. He was a 1955 graduate of Cathedral High School.
Following graduation Paul enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and served his country for more than 6 years. He was honorably discharged with the rank: Corporal on October 3, 1961.
Paul made his career as a truck driver with Teamsters local 25 and local 122 for many years, driving for A&P Supermarkets as well as Burke Distributing, retiring at age 65 in 2001.
He was a life-long member of Old Colony Yacht Club in Dorchester, where he kept his Bayliner powerboat for many years. He relished the many trips he and Terry took over the years to Madeira Beach, Florida. Paul always enjoyed playing a good hand of poker and spending time with family and friends, but his main concern was always taking care of his beloved Terry.
In addition to Terry he was the loving step-father of Karen S. Feeney of East Peoria Illinois and her late husband Robert, the late Linda M. Dunn and the late Frank L. Tabbi. Brother of the late; Maureen Tobin, James “Buddy” O’Hara, John O’Hara, William O’Hara and Patricia Bowen. Besides Terry and Karen, he is survived by 29 of his O’Hara nieces and nephews, seven grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, and three great-great grandchildren.
His funeral Mass, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held at 10:30am Tuesday September 3, 2024 in St. Jerome’s Church, 632 Bridge St, North Weymouth. Visitation to be held inside the church prior to Mass beginning at 9:00am. Cremation to follow. Interment at the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne, will occur at a later date.
