Pauline Stanton Obituary

Pauline (Galloucis) Stanton was born to Greek immigrant parents and raised in the south end of Boston with her sisters, Estelle and Diana, along with their brother, Harry. As children of the Great Depression, Pauline and her siblings learned the value of frugal living and hard work. Pauline was a proud graduate of Girls’ High school and later thrived at Boston University. She always said that BU taught her to think for herself with clarity and common sense.

She married Robert Stanton in February 1949 and they remained together for over 50 years. Two of their greatest pleasures were ballroom dancing and summering on the Cape at their cottage in Falmouth.

Her professional life began at Sears Roebuck & Co. in Boston in accounting and sales. Later employed at Tracer Lab in Waltham, she worked long days and made lifelong friends.

The next stop was the Boston Redevelopment Authority and a colleague who became a dear friend of many years. Charles Dinezio met Pauline Stanton and so began a powerhouse collaboration that lead to the first codified building code in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

Pauline was a 20-year plus member of the Quincy democratic city committee for Ward 6. The distinction of being a 20-year member is given only to individuals who consecutively served as a member of their Ward committee. This honor made her a lifelong member of the Quincy Democratic city committee from Ward 6. She served for 30+ years.

It was the bonds of home and family that mattered most, though. Pauline was devoted to her family and extended family. This circle included not just parents and siblings, but aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews both near and far. One of the ways she showed her love to family and friends was by cooking, baking, and generously giving of her time and hospitality, There was always room at her table.
