Roland “Roly” Cyprien Morneau, 87, passed away unexpectedly on November 28, 2025, in Danvers, Massachusetts. He was born on February 16, 1938, in Salem, MA, to Ludger and Yvonne Morneau. Roly was a 1955 graduate of Salem High School.
After raising his family in Salem, Roland and his beloved wife, Joyce A. Morneau (Merrick)—the love of his life and partner of 60 years—enjoyed retirement adventures in Tamworth, NH; Brooksville, FL; and Rochester, NH. Joyce predeceased him in 2021, and not a day passed without Roland cherishing the memories they built together, evident in the beautiful photos of them throughout his room.
A natural problem-solver with a gift for working with his hands, Roland proudly owned and operated J&G Appliances for 35 years. Known for his skill, reliability, and integrity, if he couldn’t fix something, it probably couldn’t be fixed. He was always on the move—tinkering, repairing, and finding joy in helping anyone who needed him.
Roland loved the outdoors and spent many happy days sailing, boating, and fishing. He enjoyed cross country skiing with his wife and in his later years a good karaoke session with friends. Above all else, he treasured time with his wife and family. His greatest accomplishment—and the one he held closest to his heart—was being a devoted husband and a caring, supportive father to his three daughters. He took immense pride in watching his eight grandchildren grow into young adults and welcoming five great-grandchildren into the world.
Roland is survived by his three daughters: Linda Spies and her husband George, of Maryville, TN; Sharon Ell and her husband Jeff, of Wakefield, MA; and Christina Morneau, of Salem, MA. He is also survived by his eight grandchildren: Amber Hanson and her husband Chris, of Salem, MA; Jonathan Dobrosielski, of Beverly, MA; Evan Dobrosielski, of Boxford, MA; Griffin, Joshua, and Sophie Ell, of Wakefield, MA; Jared Spies, of Pelham, NH; and Ava Spies, of Lowell, MA. Roland also leaves behind five great-grandchildren: Christopher, Jamison, Delilah, Stella, and Everleigh.
A private celebration of Roland’s life will be held at a later date, allowing family and loved ones to come together and remember him.
