Sandra Anne (Jordan) Bowlen, age 86, passed away on Tuesday, March 18, 2025, at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital in Boston, with her family by her side. Sandra was born in Quincy, Massachusetts, to the late Edward and Elsie Johnson) Jordan. She was raised in Quincy and was a 1956 graduate of Quincy High School. She resided in Quincy her entire life-the city she loved. She was the beloved and cherished wife of the late John F. Bowlen. They were happily married for 64 years until his passing in 2022.
Loving mother of the late William Bowlen, Michael Bowlen and his wife Magdalena, Paula Bowlen, Brenda Chiu and her husband Bun, the late Craig Bowlen and his wife Heidi, and Philip Bowlen. Cherished grandmother of Michael, Amy, Emalie, the late Brittany Bowlen, Stanley, Eliza, and Wesley Chiu. Step-grandmother to Adam Olszewski. She is also survived by many loving great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and dear friends. She was the loving sister of the late Allan Jordan, Janice Boyd, the late Wanda Berg, Laura Fitzgerald, Edward Jordan and his wife Laurie, and Sheila Wallace.
Mrs. Bowlen loved being a homemaker when her children were young. Later, she worked at Telemarketing Systems and enjoyed the camaraderie and connection with others. She loved family gatherings, road trips throughout New England with her husband, and visits to casinos. For many years, she enjoyed trips to Atlantic City on Mother's Day with her mother, sisters, daughters, nieces, and friends. In recent years, she especially enjoyed excursions to Maine.
Sandra enjoyed local bingo games, loved the ocean, nature walks, and birdwatching. A devoted Boston Red Sox fan who also enjoyed watching New England Patriots games, she was a talented knitter who created beautiful handmade sweaters and hats. She was also a skilled rug maker, known for her fabulous, handcrafted pieces. Sandra was known for her kindness, warmth, and optimism. She saw the best in everyone and never spoke an unkind word. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew her.
There will be no services. A celebration of her life will be held at a later date.
