Shao Da Chu 褚绍达 Obituary

Shao Da Chu, 93, of Boston passed away peacefully on April 19, 2022.

Shao Da was born on December 22, 1928 and raised in GuangZhou, China before immigrating to the United States. Shao Da leaves behind his wife Qiubo Wu and his adult children,  Cindy Chu, Elaine Lau and Samson Chu.

After completing his education in architecture, Shao Da spent the initial part of his professional life working in the educational field. He then worked as an architect. At the peak of his career, Shao Da was respected as the Chief Architect for the largest construction company in Guangdong province. As the chief architect, Shao Da  designed numerous commercial buildings and personally supervised many large construction projects.

Shao Da is remembered for his vision in learning foreign languages. Not only did he invest major efforts to learn the English language for his own career growth, he was also the English mentor for all his children. He placed a great emphasis on their English education early on which has proven to be very beneficial to both his daughters and son's future endeavors.
Shao Da was also known for his passion in keeping up with technology. During his retirement life, he continued to explore 3D design software and hardware for architects. It is quite uncommon for senior citizens but with the help from his son, Shao Da had the opportunities to experience both PC and Mac computers, generations of iphones and ipads, smart TV, bluetooth headsets, digital keyboard and so many other digital toys! BTW, he is often fascinated by computer games just like kids.

Shao Da was born in the tropical weather so he loved the hot summer weather. He often missed the warm temperature in GuangZhou therefore he traveled back and forth between Boston and Guangzhou. He spent a lot of time in GuangZhou enjoying his hometown and especially the nice weather but as he became older, he made the decision to move back to Boston to spend quality life with his wife, children and grandchildren. During the past three years, he received the best care from all his children, especially his two daughters who worked diligently in keeping up with his cravings for good food and everyday living.

Shao Da was very blessed to be able to spend the last couple of months of his life in the same room with his wife during his rehab at South Cove Manor. They were given another opportunity to create even more beautiful memories. He passed away peacefully in his sleep on April 19, 2022.

We will forever hold him in our hearts. Shao Da will be forever missed.

Friends and family have shared their relationship to show their support.
