Stanley Lee Harding, III

Stanley Lee Harding, III, 72, a life-long Quincy resident, died in the early morning hours of Monday June 8, 2026 following a period of declining health. He was the loving son of the late Madeline (Steele) McCarthy and Stanley Lee Harding, Jr.

Born in Quincy February 1, 1954 Stanley attended Quincy schools. Raised in Quincy Center, the family were communicants of St. John’s Church. Following graduation Stanley served his country with honor in the U.S. Air Force during the war in Vietnam. He was stationed for a time at McClellan Air Force Base in California before being honorably discharged with the rank of Airman First Class on September 20, 1976 after four years of service.

Stanley’s government service continued in the United States Postal Service where he had a lengthy career in various positions before retiring from the South Postal Annex in South Boston in 2018.

He was a devoted New England sports fan -especially of the Red Sox- and worked part time at Fenway Park for many years. He was a skilled poker player and loved to play Texas Hold ‘em. Stanley was a fixture at the former Tully’s Cafe in Quincy, and he enjoyed playing golf. He had a deep-rooted love and appreciation for the city of Quincy and all of its storied history.

Brother of Russell Harding and his wife Colleen Gokey-Harding of Hull, Cheryl Chobanian and her husband Mark of Randolph, Glenn Harding and his wife Michelle “Shelly” of Berkley, Michael Harding of Randolph and the late Richard and John Harding, the late James Harding and his surviving wife Jennifer of Taunton, and the late Michelle Loonie and her surviving husband Rich of Stoughton. Father of Tracy Harding and grandfather of Brendan Harding. Godfather of Cody Harding, he is also survived by many beloved nieces and nephews as well as extended family and good friends.

Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend visiting hours Monday June 15, 2026 from 10:00am until 12:00 noon at Hamel-Lydon Chapel, 650 Hancock St, Quincy. Interment with military honors will occur on the following day, Tuesday June 16, 2026 at 12:30pm at the Massachusetts National Cemetery at Bourne, Connery Avenue Bourne.
