Teresa J. “Terry” White (née McIntyre) of Braintree, died peacefully on October 27th, 2025 at 83 years of age in Hingham.
Born on March 19th, 1942 in Dorchester, Terry graduated from Saint Patrick’s High School in Roxbury. She spent two years in Halifax, Nova Scotia as a novitiate with the Sisters of Charity before leaving the order and returning to Dorchester.
Beloved wife of the late Francis D. White (m. 1964), together they raised five children who, with their partners, survive her: Francis D. White Jr. and his wife Victoria of West Roxbury, David F. White of Florida, Andrew F. White and his wife Michele of Maryland, Teresa M. Norton (née White) and her partner Michael Burden of Abington and Allison M. White and her partner Ryan McNeil of Plymouth.
In addition to her children and their partners, she is survived by her siblings Robert McIntyre, David McIntyre, Sr. Barbara McIntyre MSBT, and Peter McIntyre, as well as her seven grandchildren, Devin, Gabrielle, Sean, Reid, Kyra, Evan and Avery who know her affectionately as Nomi, Gram and Grandma. She is also survived by many dear friends too numerous to list exhaustively, among them Helen Kerrigan and Peachy Galvin, as well as her sisters-in-law Agnes (“Peepsie”), Kathy and Debra.
Terry was preceded in death by her parents, John and Vera McIntyre, her late brother John J. McIntyre Jr. and her son-in-law Brian Norton.
Terry worked for many years as a secretary for her family’s oil business, McIntyre Bros. and spent many wonderful years in retirement in North Carolina and Florida before returning to Massachusetts after her husband’s passing.
Terry loved many of the finer things in life, such as Brigham’s ice cream, Sullivan’s lobster rolls and Manhattans. She was an avid quilter and crocheter and many will remember her for her love of the crafts and the many handmade gifts she’s given us over the years.
We will remember her for her wit, compassion and outspoken individuality. The care she had for her friends and family was always sincere and genuine. It will not be soon forgotten. We hope that we can love each other as she loved us.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial Thursday, November 6th at 10:30 AM at St. Ann’s Church Dorchester.
In lieu of flowers please consider donating in Teresa’s name to: The Mission of St. Joan of Arc, 3546 Frankford Ave. Philadelphia, PA 19134.
