Thomas C. Kimball, age 87, passed away on Friday, May 15, 2026. He was a devoted father, grandfather, great-grandfather, United States Navy veteran, engineer and lifelong fitness and music enthusiast.
Born and raised in Roxbury, MA with a strong sense of curiosity and discipline, Thomas lived a life defined by service and family. He proudly served in the United States Navy aboard the USS Boston, carrying the values of duty and resilience throughout his life. Following his military service, Thomas earned a degree in engineering from Northeastern University. He was a thoughtful problem-solver who approached challenges with perseverance.
Thomas placed great importance on health and fitness. He maintained an active lifestyle and encouraged others to do the same. Running, tennis, calisthenics and taking a dip in the ocean were some of his favorite activities. He also appreciated life’s simple pleasures, especially a good cup of coffee with a muffin over meaningful conversation with family and friends. Music was a central part of his life. He was a devoted listener and musician who also played drums and harmonica. He loved classical music and shared that passion with those around him. Music remained a constant source of joy throughout his life.
He is survived by his daughters, Karen Hines (Rockland) and Kelly Kimball (Los Angeles), as well as his beloved grandchildren, great-grandchildren, sister in law, niece, nephew, cousins and pets. He was preceded in death by his wife Judith L. Kimball, his brother Kenneth A. Kimball and his daughter Diane E. Kimball. Thomas will be remembered for his devotion to family, his love of music, staying fit and the steady presence he brought to the lives of those who knew him.
