Walter David Newcomb

Walter David Newcomb, Age 92, of Crossville TN, formerly of Abington and Quincy, died Sunday, Dec 27, 2020 at Cumberland House in Crossville TN, a care facility of Hospice of Cumberland County.

Walter was born, a twin, on Nov 18, 1928, in Quincy, the son of Walter T. Newcomb and Mary (Billington) Newcomb.

The Newcomb family lived several years in Quincy before moving and establishing their home in Abington.  

Walter proudly served both in the US Army and the US Air Force. He lived the majority of his life on the South Shore and was a caring son, brother, uncle and friend. At one point or another in his life he helped his family members whenever there was a need and in whatever capacity he could. He worked for some years for Agway; also as a printer with his twin brother Willard in Tacoma WA; and for several years delivering milk for Sun Ray Lea Dairy farm in Abington. In 2014, he moved with his nephew to Crossville, TN.

Walter is survived by his nephew Douglas Newcomb Sr of Floral City, FL; nieces Melissa Allen of San Antonio TX and Elizabeth Griffin of Spokane WA; niece by marriage Rachel Newcomb of Crossville TN; and several great-nieces and -nephews.

In addition to his parents, Walter is preceded in death by his four brothers: Richard Newcomb, Robert Newcomb, Kenneth Newcomb Sr, and Willard Newcomb; his nephew Kenneth Newcomb Jr of Hanson MA; his nephew Donald Newcomb of Crossville TN; and his beloved cousin Margaret Keeman of Seekonk MA.

Burial at Mount Wollaston Cemetery, Quincy at 1pm ,Friday, January 22, 2021
