Ying Xue Mai Chan 陳麥映雪

Ying Xue Mai Chan of Boston, died peacefully on Sunday, November 27th at 61 years of age. Beloved daughter of Hui Ping Li and Jing Tang Mai. Cherished wife of Lung Woon Chan. Loving mother of Mimi Chan, her husband Harry Louie, Suzy Chan, her husband Jian Dong Li, and Jeffrey Chan. Cherished “Por Por” of two grandchildren. Beloved sister of Tie Zheng Mai, his wife Hong Qun Zhou, Lian Zheng Mai, his wife Xing Ping Chen. Ying is also lovingly survived by her goddaughter, Amy Duong, nephews and nieces. 

Ying was born in Taishan City, Guangdong Province, China. Her favorite childhood memory was knitting fishnets for sale in their village and bringing home the money to her parents. Her two brothers recalled her honorable duty of teaching and babysitting them throughout their childhoods. 

With perseverance, strength, and resilience, she fulfilled her wishes of providing financially for her family overseas and achievement of passing the naturalization exam. Her children and family are forever grateful to have the opportunity to live the American dream through her tireless efforts, work ethic, and determination. 

Her fondest memories included her children’s milestones, family gatherings, and the unconditional everlasting love shared with her husband. No matter if they were strolling down the street or in bed watching tv, her husband held onto her hands for 40 years. 

Her smile, kindness, generous and caring heart will be missed and cherished by her loved ones.

Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend Visiting Hours on Saturday, December 3, 2022 from 10:00am-12:30pm at Hamel-Lydon Chapel, 650 Hancock Street in Quincy. A procession will follow with a route through Boston Chinatown to her interment at Blue Hill Cemetery, 700 West Street in Braintree.
